The lineage of many groups has been shown by giving each branch an ancestor. If a branch starts with a "?" or multiple "??"'s then one must not assume that this branch is a descendant of the branch that contains the lineage showing a "? Hodgins". This method was used to allow a descendant tree to include all branches of the "Hodgins lines" without allowing multiple trees.
